Personal Essay Topics - Writing Effective Personal Essay Topics
Personal Essay Topics - Writing Effective Personal Essay TopicsMany people make the mistake of writing their personal essay topics too broadly. By broadening your topic you don't allow yourself to be able to express your real opinion, which is the only thing that will actually make a difference.Your personal essay topics should always have some real depth to them, they should include some real goals that are in line with what you hope to achieve as an adult. Your essay topics should have a beginning, middle and end to the essay.I sometimes hear many people talking about personal essay topics that have nothing to do with their real life, or what they want to do with their life. If you need to add some more depth to your topic, you can use the idea of taking a 'why not' approach, that makes it a little bit easier to think about, but doesn't eliminate all those thoughts. They are still there, they are just like what they were before.Personal essay topics should never be very broad, but too narrow. Too many times students get carried away when they read their topic and write it with too much detail. This is something you do not want to do, because once you start trying to fill in every word with things like 'and'to' it gets very annoying and you just end up stopping writing completely. When I do personal essay topics I like to write in a paragraph, I might even use a couple of bullet points, then I break it up into a few paragraphs. Then I let my thoughts flow freely on my topic. After that I always ask myself if I have any follow up questions.Remember that one of the biggest keys to your success is to make sure that your personal essay topics contain a core topic. By giving yourself a big focus you can focus on all the other details in a much better way. This means that you can move much more quickly when you write, because you are focused on one main idea.I also always tell my students that if they have too many ideas for personal essay topics that they are not wr iting good enough. What that means is that they are writing the same thoughts over again. You are better off if you take a step back from your topic and ask yourself, 'does this apply to my life?'This is one of the easiest ways that you can learn to hone in on your personal essay topics, that is why I tell my students to take a second and just think about what it means to them. Then you can begin to write with more clarity. When you are looking at the big picture, you will find that you can actually come up with an idea and just sit down and write it out.
